Novak Djokovic is once again vying for a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title at Wimbledon. The seven-time Wimbledon champion began his quest against France's Alexandre Muller. Djokovic admitted uncertainty about how much longer he plans to play, prompting questions about whether this Wimbledon could be his "last dance".

In his opening match against Muller, Djokovic expressed feeling unwell but credited "doctors' miracle pills" for helping him overcome discomfort and secure the win. After easily winning the first set 6-1, Djokovic faced an unexpected challenge when Muller took the second set in a tie-break. Djokovic then recovered to win the following two sets 6-2, 6-2. Despite the victory, Djokovic acknowledged that he went from "feeling my absolute best for a set and a half to my absolute worst for about 45 minutes". He speculated about a possible stomach bug but was ultimately able to regain his energy and finish the match strongly.

Djokovic is aiming to equal Roger Federer's record for the most Wimbledon triumphs in the Open era. He has reached every Wimbledon final since 2018. However, he is aware of the growing dominance of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner at the top of men's tennis. In the second round, Djokovic is scheduled to face British wildcard Dan Evans. The order of play for Thursday, July 3rd, has Djokovic opening the day's play on Centre Court against Evans.

The competition at Wimbledon is fierce, with defending champion Carlos Alcaraz also in contention. Alcaraz, who defeated Djokovic in the previous year's final, opened Centre Court on Monday against Fabio Fognini. Other top players, including Jannik Sinner, are also participating in the tournament, adding to the challenge for Djokovic.
