Kyle Walker is reportedly nearing a surprising £5 million move to Burnley from Manchester City. The England international is undergoing a medical, and if all goes well, an official announcement is expected soon. Walker, 35, is discussing a two-year deal with the newly-promoted club.

Walker's potential move to Burnley would mark a reunion with manager Scott Parker, with whom he played at Tottenham Hotspur from 2011 to 2013. Walker's experience could prove invaluable as Burnley prepares for their return to the Premier League. He has played in 410 Premier League matches.

Walker's departure from Manchester City comes after a period of uncertainty. He spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan, making 16 appearances. However, the Serie A side did not take up the option to make the deal permanent. Walker was also absent from City's squad for the FIFA Club World Cup.

Walker initially joined Manchester City in 2017 for £50 million. Although he began last season as club captain, he later fell out of favor with manager Pep Guardiola. Walker requested a transfer during the January transfer window. Despite extending his contract with Manchester City until 2026, Walker expressed a desire to play at the highest level for as long as possible, drawing inspiration from players like Pepe and Luka Modric.

Manchester City will reportedly save £10 million per season by offloading Walker, who was one of their highest earners. Walker's exit would leave a void in City's defense, particularly his recovery pace and physicality. While Rico Lewis remains an option at right-back, City may look to the transfer market to fill the gap.

Burnley's acquisition of Walker would be their ninth signing of the summer window. His arrival would bring much-needed experience to the squad, which lacked it during their previous Premier League stint.
