Speaking to the media, Jyoti revealed she was admitted to the hospital for cancer treatment while Akash was playing for the Lucknow SuperGiants in the IPL. Despite his professional commitments, Akash made sure to visit her in the hospital either before or after his matches.

The revelation of Jyoti's illness came as a surprise to her when Akash spoke about it on live television. In an interview, she expressed her astonishment at her brother's public announcement, acknowledging the significance of his gesture and the deep love he has for his family.

Before the England tour, when the family met Akash at the airport, she told him not to worry about her and to focus on doing well for the country.
