Milwaukee Brewers fans, who had only recently witnessed Jacob Misiorowski's debut, can celebrate, as the hard-throwing rookie has been named to the National League All-Star team. This announcement came as a surprise Friday night, as Misiorowski is replacing Chicago Cubs pitcher Matthew Boyd.

Misiorowski has quickly made a name for himself in his short time in the majors. The 23-year-old right-hander has made only five starts for the Brewers, posting a 4-1 record with a 2.81 ERA. In those starts, he has racked up 33 strikeouts in 25 2/3 innings. His fastball has been a major weapon, averaging 99.3 mph and reaching 100 mph on 89 pitches.

With this selection, Misiorowski breaks the record for the fewest big league appearances before an All-Star showing. The previous record was held by Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes, who made the All-Star team after 11 games in 2024.

Misiorowski is coming off a dominant performance against the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he pitched six innings, allowing only one run and striking out 12. He is not scheduled to pitch again before the All-Star break.

Boyd, who Misiorowski is replacing, was scheduled to start Saturday and would have been making his first All-Star appearance at the age of 34.

In other All-Star news, Carlos Rodón of the New York Yankees, Carlos Estévez of the Kansas City Royals, and Casey Mize of the Detroit Tigers have been named as replacement pitchers on the AL roster. Rodón is replacing his teammate Max Fried, Estévez is replacing Jacob deGrom of the Texas Rangers, and Mize is taking the spot of Garrett Crochet of the Boston Red Sox. With Mize's selection, the Tigers now have six All-Stars, tying a franchise record. Additionally, Maikel Garcia of the Kansas City Royals will replace Brandon Lowe of the Tampa Bay Rays, who is on the injured list.

The All-Star Game will be held on Tuesday night in Atlanta.
