Lionel Messi is currently on a sensational scoring streak, having achieved a remarkable feat of scoring at least two goals in each of his last five games, totaling 10 goals. This unprecedented run has not only solidified his position as one of the greatest players in history but has also propelled Inter Miami to new heights in Major League Soccer (MLS).

The Argentinian superstar's scoring spree began in late May, with a brace against Montreal in a 4-2 victory, followed by another two goals in a dominant 5-1 win over Columbus. After a pause in MLS action for the Club World Cup, where Messi scored once in four matches before Miami's elimination, he returned to domestic play with another brace in a 4-1 victory, again against Montreal.

Most recently, Messi scored twice in Inter Miami's 2-1 victory over the New England Revolution on Wednesday. He then extended his streak to five straight multi-goal games against Nashville SC on Saturday night, contributing to a 2-1 victory. In the match against Nashville, Messi opened the scoring with a free kick in the 17th minute. After Nashville tied the game, Messi scored again in the 62nd minute, capitalizing on a mistake by Nashville's goalkeeper. This victory also snapped Nashville SC's 15-match unbeaten streak.

His current form has made him the first player in MLS history to score multiple goals in four consecutive games. With the two goals against the New England Revolution, Messi reached a career total of 870 goals. In the current MLS season, Messi has 16 goals in 16 games, tying him with Nashville's Sam Surridge, who has played in 21 matches.

Inter Miami is currently aiming to win the title for the second straight season. The team has won its fifth straight match and moved to fifth in the Supporter's Shield standings.

Messi's outstanding performances have drawn high praise from his coach and teammates. Javier Mascherano, Inter Miami's coach, lauded Messi as the best player in history, marveling at his continued ability to perform at such a high level. Mascherano also highlighted the connection between Messi and Sergio Busquets, noting their long-standing understanding on the field.

With his current form, Messi is in contention for the MLS Golden Boot, which he has not yet won since joining Inter Miami. He is currently only two goals behind the leader, Sam Surridge. If Messi maintains his current scoring rate, he could challenge Carlos Vela's single-season record of 34 goals.
