After 18 years with Real Madrid, Lucas Vázquez has officially bid farewell to the club. The 34-year-old's departure marks the end of an era for a player who has been an integral part of the team's success over the last decade. Real Madrid will hold an institutional act of homage and farewell to Lucas Vázquez at Real Madrid City.

Vázquez arrived at Real Madrid in 2007 at the age of 16, progressing through the club's youth ranks from the Under-17s to Castilla. After a loan spell at Espanyol, he debuted with the first team in September 2015. Since then, he has played 402 games over 10 seasons, contributing to one of the most successful periods in Real Madrid's history.

Throughout his time with the club, Vázquez has won 23 titles, including 5 Champions League titles, 5 Club World Cups, 4 European Super Cups, 4 La Liga titles, 1 Copa del Rey, and 4 Spanish Super Cups.

In a heartfelt message to the fans, Vázquez expressed his gratitude and reflected on his time at the club. "Dear Madridistas, it has been nearly two decades since I arrived at Valdebebas as a 16-year-old full of dreams and excitement to wear this shirt," he wrote. "Every step along the way has been a gift, and over time, Madrid became my home". He added, "We have lived unforgettable nights together, celebrated 23 titles and created memories that will stay with me forever".

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez expressed his gratitude and affection for Vázquez, stating, "Lucas Vázquez represents in an exemplary way the values of Real Madrid, which has made him one of the most loved players by our fans". He added, "The figure of Lucas Vázquez symbolises the hard work, perseverance, humility, and winning spirit that are essential for success in this shirt. He is a player who has the affection and recognition of all madridistas. Real Madrid is and always will be his home".

Vázquez's versatility and commitment made him a valuable asset to the team, playing in various positions and contributing in crucial moments. One of the most memorable moments of his career was the 2016 Champions League final in Milan, where he confidently converted his penalty in the shootout against Atlético Madrid.

While his next destination is yet to be confirmed, there has been interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and MLS. Despite the uncertainty, Vázquez has made it clear that his time at Real Madrid will always hold a special place in his heart. "I may be leaving Real Madrid, but Real Madrid will never leave me," he stated.

The departure of Lucas Vázquez marks a significant moment in Real Madrid's ongoing squad renovation. With the arrival of new players and the departure of veterans like Vázquez and Luka Modrić, the club is entering a new chapter. Real Madrid is keen on having Trent Alexander-Arnold, who will compete with Dani Carvajal.
