Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly set to rejoin Olympique Marseille after a brief stint in Saudi Arabia with Al-Qadsiah. The 36-year-old Gabonese striker has decided to return to the French club, with reports suggesting he has terminated his contract with the Saudi Pro League side.

Aubameyang's return to Marseille comes after just one season with Al-Qadsiah, where he still managed to find the net 21 times and provided 3 assists in all competitions. Despite receiving a lucrative offer from another Saudi club, Al-Ettifaq, the former Arsenal star prioritized a return to the Ligue 1 side. He is expected to sign a two-year contract with Marseille, keeping him at the club until June 2027.

During his previous spell with Marseille in the 2023-2024 season, Aubameyang enjoyed a highly successful campaign, scoring 30 goals in 51 appearances. His impressive performances led to him being recognized as the top scorer and best player in the Europa League. Marseille fans will be hoping he can replicate that form upon his return.

Marseille's qualification for the Champions League last season is another factor in Aubameyang's decision. The opportunity to compete in Europe's premier club competition is an enticing prospect for the experienced striker. Under the guidance of Roberto De Zerbi, Aubameyang will be looking to make a significant contribution to the team's campaign.

However, Aubameyang will face competition for the centre-forward role from talented Algerian international Amine Gouiri. Marseille are also keen to strengthen their squad further, with Juventus' Timothy Weah reportedly a target to bolster their options on the wing. Feyenoord’s Igor Paixao and Lyon’s Malick Fofana are also being monitored.

Aubameyang's return to Marseille is seen as a major coup for the club. His proven goal-scoring record and experience will be invaluable as they look to compete both domestically and in Europe. For Aubameyang, it represents a chance to reignite his career in a familiar environment where he has already demonstrated his capabilities.
