Lionel Messi orchestrated a masterful performance, scoring two goals and providing an assist, as Inter Miami dominated the New York Red Bulls with a resounding 5-1 victory in their recent MLS match. The Argentine maestro's influence was undeniable, leading his team to a crucial win after a disappointing defeat against FC Cincinnati.

The match began with an early setback for Inter Miami, as Alexander Hack scored for the New York Red Bulls in the 15th minute from a corner kick by Emil Forsberg. However, Messi quickly responded, igniting a comeback with an assist to Jordi Alba in the 24th minute. Alba's goal leveled the score, shifting the momentum in favor of Inter Miami. Just minutes later, Messi was again involved in the attack, providing a secondary assist to Telasco Segovia, who put Miami ahead 2-1. Segovia then scored again before halftime, extending Inter Miami's lead to 3-1.

In the second half, Messi continued to shine, scoring his first goal of the match in the 60th minute after a precise pass from Sergio Busquets. He then added another goal in the 75th minute, assisted by Luis Suarez, further cementing Inter Miami's dominance. Segovia also scored a brace in the match.

Messi's stellar performance not only secured a decisive win for Inter Miami but also extended his remarkable record of consistent goal contributions. With the two goals and one assist against the Red Bulls, Messi has now reached 30 direct goal contributions for Inter Miami in the 2025 season. This includes 22 goals and 8 assists across 29 games in all competitions, averaging more than one goal involvement per match. This accomplishment marks his 19th consecutive calendar year with at least 30 goal contributions, a streak that began during his time at FC Barcelona.

Inter Miami's coach, Javier Mascherano, had to adjust the team's lineup due to an injury to starting goalkeeper Oscar Ustari, who was replaced by Rocco Rios Novo. Gonzalo Lujan also returned to the starting XI after recovering from a hamstring injury. However, Maxi Falcon will miss the next match against Cincinnati due to yellow card accumulation.

The victory against the New York Red Bulls propelled Inter Miami to fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings, with 41 points. The team is looking to maintain this momentum as they prepare for their next match against Cincinnati. Inter Miami had lost 3-0 to FC Cincinnati in their previous match. Messi's performance against the Red Bulls showcased his enduring talent and leadership, reaffirming his status as a key player for Inter Miami.
