The Calgary Flames' 2025-26 schedule has been released, marking the second-to-last season the team will play at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Here's a breakdown of what fans can expect.

Key Dates and Matchups

The Flames will start the 2025-26 regular season on October 8 with a road game against their provincial rivals, the Edmonton Oilers. The home opener at the Scotiabank Saddledome is set for October 11 against the St. Louis Blues.

The schedule features four "Battle of Alberta" matchups, with the first two in Edmonton on October 8 and December 23. Calgary will host the Oilers on December 27 and again on February 4. Other key matchups include games against the Winnipeg Jets and Vancouver Canucks.

Schedule Breakdown

The Flames will play each divisional opponent four times, except for Seattle (twice in Calgary, once in Seattle) and Vancouver (once in Calgary, twice in Vancouver), who they will face three times each. Calgary will play Central Division opponents three times and all Eastern Conference teams twice, once at home and once away.

Games are distributed throughout the week: Monday (9), Tuesday (13), Wednesday (12), Thursday (15), Friday (5), Saturday (19), and Sunday (9). The team will have nine sets of back-to-back games, all involving travel.

Olympic Break

The NHL season will pause from February 6 to 24 for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina, Italy. The Flames' last game before the break is at home against Edmonton on February 4, and they will return to action on February 26 in San Jose.

Notable Homestands and Road Trips

The Flames have a six-game homestand from March 18 to 28, hosting St. Louis, Florida, Tampa Bay, Los Angeles, Anaheim, and Vancouver. They also have four other homestands lasting four or five games. The schedule includes several long road trips, including a five-game stretch from November 23 to December 2 and another five-game trip from January 7-15.

Roster and Waivers

Several players will be newly subject to waivers, including Dustin Wolf and Matt Coronato. The Flames have 15 waiver-exempt players under NHL contracts for the upcoming season.

Storylines to Watch

  • Farewell to the Saddledome: This season marks the beginning of a farewell to the Scotiabank Saddledome, Calgary's home since 1983.
  • Huberdeau's Performance: After a drop in points since joining the Flames in 2022, there is hope that Huberdeau will return to his previous form.
  • Dustin Wolf as Starting Goalie: With Jacob Markstrom traded, the team will rely on Dustin Wolf.
  • Young Players: The Flames will focus on giving opportunities for young players to develop.
