The fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between England and India concluded in a draw at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester. Despite England's strong position after posting a formidable 669 in their first innings, centuries from Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar helped India secure a draw and keep the series alive. England still lead the five-match series 2-1.

India faced immense pressure on the final day, needing to bat exceptionally well to save the game. After losing Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan early in their second innings, the onus was on the middle order to stabilize the innings. KL Rahul and Shubman Gill forged a resilient partnership, with Gill scoring a century. However, their dismissals on Day 5 put England in a potentially winning position.

Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar then combined to stage a remarkable fightback. Jadeja, who had already registered four consecutive fifties in the series, converted his form into a magnificent century. He reached the milestone with a six, demonstrating his aggressive intent. Sundar, playing at number five, also batted with composure and reached his maiden Test century. He remained unbeaten on 101, hitting nine fours and a six during his innings.

Together, Jadeja and Sundar added over 200 runs, frustrating the English bowlers and shifting the momentum. Sundar's achievement was particularly significant, solidifying his role as a valuable all-rounder in the Indian team.

The draw was a morale-boosting result for India, who showed resilience and determination. Shubman Gill expressed his satisfaction with the team's batting performance and lauded Jadeja and Sundar for their outstanding centuries. He also hinted at a possible decision regarding Jasprit Bumrah's inclusion in the next Test.

England will rue the missed opportunity to take a 3-1 lead in the series. Dropping Ravindra Jadeja early in his innings proved costly, as he went on to score a century and anchor the Indian innings. Ben Stokes offered a draw, but the Indian batters declined, eager to continue batting and reach their respective centuries.

Ravindra Jadeja equaled West Indies great Sir Garfield Sobers for the most 50+ scores in a Test series in England after batting at No. 6 or lower.

The final Test match of the series will be played at the Oval.
