LAFC star Denis Bouanga has sparked debate in the football world by naming Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazario as the greatest striker of all time, rather than Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi. In an interview with GOAL, Bouanga was asked to name the best player ever and the best player in the world right now in four key positions: striker, midfielder, defender, and goalkeeper.

When it came to strikers, Bouanga didn't hesitate to pick Ronaldo Nazario as the best ever, while he chose Kylian Mbappe as the best striker currently. This means that he overlooked other famous players such as Harry Kane. For the best midfielder of all time, the LAFC star chose Zinedine Zidane, with Kevin De Bruyne and Luka Modric sharing the title of best current midfielder.

Bouanga also named Paolo Maldini as the best defender ever and Arsenal's William Saliba as the best defender in the world right now. Rounding out his list, Bouanga selected Brazilian icon Dida as the best-ever goalkeeper, with Manuel Neuer taking the crown for the best current goalkeeper.

Bouanga's choices have stirred discussion among football fans, especially his decision to pick Ronaldo Nazario over Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, two players who have dominated the sport for over a decade. Ronaldo Nazario, known for his incredible speed, skill, and goal-scoring ability, enjoyed a stellar career, winning numerous titles and individual awards, including two Ballon d'Or awards. However, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have arguably surpassed him in terms of longevity and overall achievements.

This isn't the first time Bouanga has made headlines with his opinions on the best players. Last month, he declared that Evander, who plays for FC Cincinnati, is the best player in MLS, snubbing Lionel Messi. Bouanga said he was excited to play with Evander in the MLS All-Stars game and stated, "I said it on Instagram, for me [Evander] is the best player in the MLS, without a doubt. He's doing very well, and I can't wait to play with him on the field".

Bouanga has faced Lionel Messi five times in his career, losing twice to PSG in Ligue 1 with Saint-Étienne and twice with LAFC against Inter Miami. However, the Gabon international has never faced Cristiano Ronaldo.

Bouanga is currently playing for LAFC, where he is a highly rated player. He has won the MLS Cup, Supporters Shield, and US Open Cup, and he also won the Golden Boot in 2023. As he prepares for LAFC's next MLS game against the New England Revolution, his opinions continue to generate debate and discussion among football enthusiasts.
