Manchester City began their Premier League campaign with a dominant 4-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, showcasing their strengthened squad and new signings. Erling Haaland continued his impressive form with a brace, while Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki marked their league debuts with goals.

The match began with an emotional tribute to Diogo Jota and Andre Silva, with Wolves fans displaying a tifo and singing "Fields of Gold" in memory of the late player and his brother. On the pitch, Wolves initially appeared solid, but City's quality eventually shone through.

Haaland opened the scoring in the 34th minute, tapping in a cross from Rico Lewis after a well-worked move involving Reijnders. Just moments later, City doubled their lead when Oscar Bobb dispossessed Wolves and set up Reijnders, who calmly slotted the ball past José Sá.

Wolves had opportunities to reduce the deficit after the break, with Jorgen Strand Larsen testing City's goalkeeper James Trafford. However, City extended their lead in the 61st minute when Haaland fired home after a give-and-go with Bobb and Reijnders.

Cherki completed the rout in the 81st minute, scoring on his debut with a powerful shot into the bottom corner. The victory marked City's 14th opening day win in the last 15 seasons and propelled them to the top of the Premier League table.

Tijjani Reijnders, a summer signing, delivered aMan of the Match performance, contributing with both a goal and an assist. His seamless integration into the team has eased concerns following the departures of Kevin De Bruyne. Rayan Cherki also made an instant impact, further highlighting the strength and depth of Guardiola's squad.

Despite the defeat, Wolves fans continued to honor Diogo Jota in the closing stages of the match. However, the day belonged to Manchester City, who demonstrated their title aspirations with a commanding performance.
