Manchester United's new head coach, Ruben Amorim, is implementing changes aimed at revitalizing the atmosphere and performance at Old Trafford. With the Premier League opener against Arsenal looming, Amorim has emphasized the importance of transforming the iconic stadium into a fortress where the team can harness the energy of the fans and dominate their opponents.

One of Amorim's first moves has been to revamp the team's pre-match routine. Departing from the tradition instilled by his predecessor, Erik ten Hag, Amorim has decided to have the players gather at Carrington, the club's training ground, for their pre-match meal and final preparations. Previously, players would arrive individually at Old Trafford four hours before kickoff. Amorim believes that spending excessive time at the stadium before the game can diminish the crucial connection with the fans.

"I always had the feeling that we arrive at Old Trafford and Old Trafford must be the centre of the game, but we cannot spend four hours there waiting for the game," Amorim explained in an interview with MUTV. He emphasized that the state-of-the-art facilities at Carrington provide an ideal environment for focused preparation. By arriving closer to kickoff, the players can "feel the fans and then go directly to the game, not killing the momentum of the connection with our fans". Amorim also assured supporters that the players will continue to interact with them and sign autographs upon arrival at Old Trafford.

Beyond logistical adjustments, Amorim is also focused on instilling a winning mentality within the squad. He acknowledges that significant changes cannot happen overnight but expresses confidence in the team's progress. "It is hard to know (what we will deliver) because we cannot change everything in four weeks, but we are better," he stated. Amorim highlights the team's improved training and preparation, stating, "I know that we are training harder, we are training better, so I know that we are more prepared to cope with the demands of the game".

Amorim's emphasis on creating a strong connection with the fans aligns with his vision of Old Trafford as the epicenter of every match. By fostering a vibrant and intimidating atmosphere, he hopes to make it a daunting venue for visiting teams. This approach is not just about tactics and formations; it's about harnessing the emotional power of the stadium and the unwavering support of the Manchester United faithful.

The upcoming match against Arsenal will be a significant test of Amorim's approach. It will provide an early indication of whether the changes he has implemented are translating into improved performance and a renewed sense of purpose at Old Trafford. While acknowledging the challenges ahead, Amorim remains optimistic. "We want to win against Arsenal, that is the main focus,” he said.
