The Montreal Canadiens have been diligently building a prospect pool that promises a bright future for the organization. As the 2025-26 season approaches, several young players are poised to make a significant impact. Here are three Canadiens prospects to keep a close eye on.

Ivan Demidov (RW)

Ivan Demidov is arguably the Canadiens' most highly anticipated prospect. Drafted fifth overall in 2024, Demidov's arrival in Montreal was met with considerable fanfare. General Manager Kent Hughes noted the excitement surrounding Demidov, stating that his flight was heavily tracked and his first game in Montreal was met with a standing ovation. The 19-year-old has spent the offseason training in Montreal and is expected to start the season in a top-six role.

Demidov is a highly creative and offensively gifted forward. Last season in the KHL, he recorded 49 points in 65 games as a 19-year-old. While there are some areas for improvement in his defensive game, his offensive potential is undeniable. Managing expectations will be key for Demidov, but he has the potential to be a difference-maker for the Canadiens.

David Reinbacher (D)

David Reinbacher, a right-handed defenseman, is another prospect who is expected to play a key role for the Canadiens. Drafted fifth overall in 2023, Reinbacher has been developing his game in the AHL with the Laval Rocket. He is viewed by the Canadiens as an NHL defenseman, and the organization is excited about his future.

Reinbacher spent time rehabbing in Montreal, which allowed him to participate in meetings and review video with coaches. His ability to absorb information and his play when healthy have further solidified the Canadiens' high expectations for him. Reinbacher had six points in 13 Calder Cup playoff games with Laval.

Jacob Fowler (G)

Goaltender Jacob Fowler is considered a top prospect within the Canadiens organization. The 20-year-old won the Mike Richter Award as the top goalie in NCAA hockey and signed his entry-level contract in April. Fowler played three regular-season games and eight Calder Cup playoff games with Laval, posting a 3-3 record with a 2.00 goals-against average, a .902 save percentage, and one shutout.

Fowler is known for his solid positioning, mental strength, and ability to avoid giving up easy goals. He covers the net effectively and has a winning track record. This season, he is expected to compete with Kaapo Kahkonen for the starting goalie position with Laval.
