The 12th edition of the Men's Hockey Asia Cup is set to take place from August 29 to September 7, 2025, in Rajgir, Bihar, India. This quadrennial international men's field hockey championship is organized by the Asian Hockey Federation.
What's at Stake
This year's Asia Cup carries significant weight as it serves as a qualifier for the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the Netherlands and Belgium. The winner of the Asia Cup will secure a direct spot in the World Cup. Teams ranking second through sixth will have an opportunity to qualify through the 2026 Men's FIH Hockey World Cup Qualifiers, scheduled for February-March next year.
Schedule and Format
The Asia Cup 2025 will feature eight teams divided into two pools of four. Following a single-headed round-robin within each group, the top two teams from each pool will advance to the Super 4s stage. In this stage, teams will compete in a secondary pool, and be ranked from first to fourth. The top two teams from the Super 4s will then compete in the final on September 7th. The third and fourth-placed teams from the Super 4s will play in a third-place playoff on the same day. The tournament officially kicks off on August 29 with a match between Malaysia and Bangladesh in Pool B.
