Liverpool asserted themselves more in the second half. A volley from Florian Wirtz forced a save from Raya, and Hugo Ekitike scored on the rebound, but the goal was ruled offside. The decisive moment came in the 83rd minute when Liverpool won a free-kick over 20 meters from goal. Szoboszlai stepped up and unleashed a powerful,curling shot that beat Raya and nestled into the top corner of the net. The goal was Szoboszlai's first for Liverpool and sparked wild celebrations at Anfield. It was Liverpool's latest winning goal from a direct free-kick in the Premier League since Steven Gerrard's in August 2007.

Despite Arsenal's efforts, they couldn't break down Liverpool's defense. Liverpool's defense, led by Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate, remained resolute. Liverpool manager Arne Slot made one change to the starting lineup, with Alexis Mac Allister replacing Curtis Jones. Arsenal were without Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard, which impacted their attacking spark.

The victory gave Liverpool nine points from their first three games, making them the only team in the league with a perfect record. Arsenal, who had won their first two games, dropped to third in the table. The match was seen as an early-season title clash, with both teams expected to be contenders.
