A National League match between Scunthorpe United and Wealdstone was abandoned in added time on Saturday, September 6, 2025, after a serious injury to Wealdstone striker Daniel Nkrumah. The game was poised at 2-1 in favor of the home side when the incident occurred.

The sequence of events leading to the abandonment began with Nkrumah suffering a shoulder injury following a collision in the Scunthorpe box. The injury necessitated a lengthy stoppage as medical personnel attended to the stricken player. Wealdstone posted on social media at 4:46 PM, acknowledging the delay in play due to Nkrumah receiving treatment.

After an extended period, Nkrumah was stretchered off the field. Social media updates from Wealdstone throughout the ordeal detailed the timeline: 4:50 PM indicated a stoppage in play due to Nkrumah's shoulder injury, and by 4:53 PM, it was noted that 11 minutes would be added to the game. At 5:06 PM, Wealdstone confirmed that Nkrumah had been safely stretchered off the field and conveyed their best wishes for his recovery. They also promised further updates as they became available.

However, the situation took a turn when the Wealdstone players reportedly left the pitch, seemingly following Nkrumah. Shortly thereafter, both clubs confirmed via social media that the match had been abandoned. Wealdstone officially announced the abandonment at 5:26 PM, citing the lengthy suspension for Nkrumah's medical treatment as the reason.

The game itself had seen Wealdstone take an early lead in the 6th minute through Enzio Boldewijn. Scunthorpe responded with Alfie Beestin's volley to level the score just past the half-hour mark. Danny Whitehall then headed Scunthorpe into the lead just before halftime. Cal Roberts had an opportunity to extend Scunthorpe's lead before Nkrumah's injury in added time brought the match to a halt.

Following the abandonment, at 5:33 PM, Wealdstone provided a further update, stating that Daniel Nkrumah was in the hospital and in stable condition. They also thanked the medical staff at Scunthorpe United and the paramedics for their assistance.

The abandonment of the match leaves questions about how and when the game will be completed.
