Lakshya Sen is set to clash with Li Shi Feng of China in the Men's Singles final of the Hong Kong Open Super 500 tournament today, September 14, 2025. This marks Sen's first major final in two years, since claiming a Super 500 title at the Canada Open in 2023.

Sen, currently ranked 20th in the world, has displayed impressive form throughout the tournament. In the semi-final, he secured a hard-fought victory against sixth-seed Chou Tien-Chen of Chinese Taipei with a score of 23-21, 22-20. Earlier in the tournament, he overcame Wang Tzu Wei, HS Prannoy and Ayush Shetty.

His opponent, Li Shi Feng, is the world number 9 and an Olympian. The Chinese shuttler has a career record of 182 wins and 77 losses and holds titles including the Sudirman Cup and All-England Open. In this tournament, Li Shi Feng reached the final after defeating Christo Popov of France.

The final at the Hong Kong Coliseum is significant for Sen, as he aims to capture his first BWF World Tour title since winning the Syed Modi International last year. Sen had also reached the semi-finals at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

While Sen holds a 7-6 head-to-head advantage against Li Shi Feng in their 13 previous encounters, Li has won their last two matches, including clashes at the All England and China Open. This sets the stage for a thrilling final.

In the semi-final match against Chou Tien-chen, Sen demonstrated composure, saving game points to win. Sen had an early lead in the first game but Chou Tien-chen leveled the score, before Sen eventually won the opener. In the second game, Chou Tien-chen had a lead but Sen saved three game points and closed the match with five consecutive points.

The match is expected to begin around 4 PM. The Star Sports network will broadcast the final, and live streaming will be available on the JioHotstar app and website for viewers in India. The BWF TV YouTube channel will also provide streaming.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty also reached the Men's Doubles final, marking their first final of 2025 after five semi-final exits. However, they lost against Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang of China.

This Hong Kong Open Super 500 tournament is held at the Hong Kong Coliseum from September 9 to 14, 2025.
