The 2025-26 FIH Hockey Pro League is set to feature a highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan on neutral ground in England. The International Hockey Federation (FIH) announced the schedule for the seventh edition of the tournament, which will take place from December 9, 2025, to June 28, 2026.

League Structure and Schedule

The FIH Hockey Pro League 2025-26 will consist of 144 matches played across 10 countries. The season will kick off simultaneously in Ireland and Argentina. Germany will face Belgium in the men's division in Ireland, while the Netherlands, the reigning champions, will play against debutants Pakistan in Argentina. The league will conclude on June 28, 2026, in Belgium, Germany, and England.

The Indian men's team will begin their campaign in February against Argentina and Belgium. The two India vs. Pakistan matches are scheduled to be held in June in England. The full schedule will be announced on September 17.

New Teams and Olympic Qualification

This season will welcome two new teams: the Ireland women's team and the Pakistan men's team, both promoted from the FIH Nations Cup 2024-25. Pakistan's inclusion follows New Zealand's decision to decline their spot, making this their debut in the Pro League.

The FIH Pro League 2025-26 also serves as a qualification pathway for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. The champions of the league will secure a direct spot in the Olympics.

India's Performance and Outlook

India narrowly avoided relegation in the previous season, finishing eighth. The Indian women's team, however, will not participate in this edition after being relegated to the FIH Nations Cup.

India vs. Pakistan: A Storied Rivalry

The India-Pakistan hockey rivalry is one of the most celebrated in the sport. Their upcoming clashes in England are expected to draw significant attention and excitement. These matches will be a part of the season finale, adding to the anticipation.

Other Key Highlights

  • Ireland will host the Pro League matches from December 9-14 at the Sport Ireland Campus in Dublin.
  • The opening matches in Ireland will feature Belgium, England and Germany (men), along with Belgium, England and Ireland (women).
