The Ottawa Senators have signed forward Olle Lycksell to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2025-26 season. The deal, announced Tuesday, will see Lycksell earn $775,000 at the NHL level and $450,000 in the AHL, with a guaranteed amount of $500,000.

Lycksell, a 25-year-old native of Oskarshamn, Sweden, spent the 2024-25 season primarily with the Philadelphia Flyers' AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. He also appeared in 19 NHL games for the Flyers, recording five assists. In 43 regular-season AHL games, Lycksell tallied 19 goals and 25 assists for a total of 44 points. He also contributed 2 goals and 4 assists in 7 playoff games for the Phantoms.

Over his NHL career, Lycksell has played 45 games, accumulating one goal and ten assists for 11 points. In 134 AHL games, he has 52 goals and 76 assists, totaling 128 points. Additionally, he has 5 goals and 9 assists in 16 AHL playoff games, amassing 14 points.

Prior to his time in North America, Lycksell played in Sweden's junior and professional leagues. Drafted by the Flyers in the sixth round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, he spent five seasons in Sweden's top domestic league, recording 42 goals and 53 assists for 95 points in 221 regular-season games with Linkopings HC, Farjestads BK Carlsbad, and Vaxjo HC.

TSN's Darren Dreger and Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman both confirmed the signing. If Lycksell demonstrates a strong performance during training camp, he could potentially secure a bottom-six role with the Senators.

The Senators are coming off a 2024-25 season where they finished with a 45-30-7 record, earning 97 points. This placed them fourth in the Atlantic Division and secured the first Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference, marking their first playoff appearance since the 2016-17 season. However, their playoff run was cut short as they were eliminated in the first round by the Toronto Maple Leafs in six games.
