Novak Djokovic is approaching his second-round Wimbledon match against Dan Evans with a degree of caution, despite holding an overwhelming advantage in their overall careers. In fact, Djokovic has an "unlikely losing record" against Evans, because they have only played each other once. The seven-time champion, however, is expected to be unfazed by his 2021 defeat against Evans on the clay of Monte Carlo as he aims for a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title.

Djokovic acknowledges Evans's proficiency on grass and the potential boost he'll receive from the home crowd. "It's a good test for both of us," Djokovic stated, adding, "I think he's been picking his form up, as well. I think his rankings are not doing him justice at the moment. He deserves to be ranked higher". He further emphasized Evans's reputation within the locker room, saying, "He's been a really tough player to face on any surface, particularly the grass and quicker ones. I know that because that's always the talk of the locker room. He's one of the guys that you don't want to face on grass".

Evans, currently ranked 154th, recognizes the challenge but is determined to seize the opportunity. "He's done pretty much everything in the game," Evans admitted. "But it's also my chance to win the match. I have to be competitive, I have to play my game, I have to be myself. I can't go into my shell and have too much respect".

Djokovic, who struggled with stomach issues during his first-round match, credited "miracle pills" for his recovery.

Meanwhile, defending women's champion Barbora Krejcikova has spoken about her reverence for Wimbledon. Krejcikova, who overcame a difficult opening match, described Centre Court as a "temple of tennis" and expressed her joy at returning to the hallowed grounds. "It's just great to be back," she said. "It's just great to be playing in the temple of tennis. It's just a very, very special place". Krejcikova has faced a challenging year with injuries, limiting her match play, but the two-time Grand Slam champion is relishing her time at the All England Club.

British fourth seed Jack Draper is also one to watch, as he takes on former finalist Marin Cilic. Draper is considered the new face of British tennis.
