Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has conceded that he won't have the final say regarding Alexander Isak's future at the club, amidst strong interest from Liverpool. The Swedish international striker is currently training separately from the first team, having been excluded from the squad's pre-season tour and recent friendlies.

Howe's admission comes as speculation intensifies about a potential move to Anfield for the 25-year-old. Newcastle reportedly rejected an initial offer of £110 million plus add-ons from Liverpool, but Isak's future remains uncertain as the Premier League season approaches. Howe stated that the decision regarding Isak's departure will be made by others within the club. He is primarily focused on managing the team and preparing for the upcoming match against Aston Villa.

Adding to the uncertainty, Howe claimed he was unaware of reports suggesting that Isak had been told he would not be sold this summer. He acknowledged that discussions are ongoing at the club, but he is not privy to all of them.

Newcastle signed Isak from Real Sociedad in 2022 for £63 million. To deter potential suitors, they have reportedly placed a £150 million price tag on the striker. However, convincing the player to remain at St James' Park could prove challenging. Howe admitted that he would have already persuaded Isak to stay if it were easy.

Isak's absence from the pre-season tour and friendlies, coupled with Howe's comments, suggest a growing rift between the player and the club. Howe has stated that Isak cannot currently be involved with the first-team squad and will miss the Premier League opener against Aston Villa.
