In a moment of historic significance, the Indian men's compound archery team clinched their first-ever gold medal at the World Championships, triumphing over France in a thrilling final held in Gwangju, South Korea. The trio of Rishabh Yadav, Aman Saini, and Prathamesh Fuge displayed remarkable composure and skill, securing a 235-233 victory against a formidable French team.

The journey to the gold medal match saw the Indian team demonstrate their dominance, overcoming strong contenders such as Australia, the USA, and Turkey. In the final against France, both teams were neck and neck, tied at 176-176 after three sets. However, the Indian team showcased their resilience and precision, delivering a stellar set of 59 to secure the win, while the French team managed 57.

Earlier in the day, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Rishabh Yadav, paired together in the mixed team event, secured a silver medal after a close contest against the Netherlands, finishing with a score of 155-157. Despite a strong start in the first set, a score of 37 allowed the Netherlands to surge ahead and maintain their lead, leaving the Indian duo with the silver.

Rishabh Yadav played a crucial role in both the mixed team and the men's compound team events, securing a silver and a gold medal respectively. His outstanding performance, along with the contributions of Aman Saini and Prathamesh Fuge, led India to this momentous victory. The French team, consisting of Nicolas Girard, Jean Boulch, and Francois Dubois, put up a strong fight but ultimately fell short against the composed Indian team.

This historic gold medal adds to India's achievements at the Archery World Championships. The Indian contingent had previously won 15 medals at the 2023 edition, including three gold, nine silver, and three bronze medals. This victory marks a significant milestone for Indian archery, highlighting the country's growing prowess in the sport.
