Delhi's Doseja Announces Arrival with Double Century, Igniting Ranji Trophy Debut in Style.

Hyderabad, October 16, 2025 - Ayush Doseja announced his arrival on the first-class cricket scene in spectacular fashion, scoring a magnificent double century on his Ranji Trophy debut for Delhi against Hyderabad at the Next-Gen Cricket Ground. The left-handed batsman's remarkable innings of 209 helped Delhi amass a formidable total of 529/4 before declaring on the second day of their Group D encounter.

Doseja's debut ton makes him one of few players to score a double century on their First-Class debut.

The 21-year-old's innings was characterized by a blend of aggression and composure, as he took the attack to the Hyderabad bowlers. Doseja struck 25 boundaries and five sixes during his 279-ball stay at the crease, displaying a wide array of strokes. He was particularly severe on left-arm spinner Gangam Anikethreddy, hitting him for 11 fours and two sixes.

Doseja shared a massive 319-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Sanat Sangwan, who also scored a double century. Sangwan remained unbeaten on 211, complementing Doseja's aggressive approach with a more measured innings. Sangwan's knock included 21 fours and three sixes, as he occupied the crease for 470 balls.

The two left-handers came together at a relatively uncomfortable 113 for three, before building their partnership. According to sources, with Priyansh Arya, the young IPL star, waiting in the wings, Sangwan needed to justify his selection.

Hyderabad's reply began strongly, reaching 77 for one in 17 overs at the end of the second day's play. Veteran Tanmay Agarwal was batting on 27, while Rahul Singh was dismissed by Delhi skipper Ayush Badoni for 35.

Earlier in the day, Delhi's declaration came after dominating the Hyderabad bowlers on what appeared to be a batting paradise. The track at Next-Gen cricket ground had nothing in it for the bowlers and both the left-handers feasted on some poor bowling effort from Hyderabad. At one point, even skipper Tilak Varma, who would fly to Australia after playing this match, also bowled five overs of off-spin.

Doseja's dream of playing alongside his idol Virat Kohli was almost realized earlier this year when he was selected for the Delhi squad. His double century on debut is a testament to his talent and potential, and it will be interesting to see how he builds on this promising start to his first-class career.
