FC Goa suffered a 2-1 defeat against Al Nassr in their AFC Champions League Two Group D match at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Despite a spirited performance, especially in the second half, the Gaurs were unable to overcome the Saudi Arabian giants.
Al Nassr, even without Cristiano Ronaldo in the squad, asserted their dominance early in the game. The visitors took the lead in the 10th minute when Angelo Gabriel unleashed a right-footed shot from outside the box, finding the back of the net. The 20-year-old Brazilian's strike was his second goal in the competition. Al Nassr continued to press, and in the 27th minute, Haroune Camara capitalized on a cross from Ayman Yahya to double their advantage. Despite a crowded FC Goa backline, Camara slotted the ball home, making it 2-0.
FC Goa, however, showed resilience and began to venture forward. In the 41st minute, Brison Fernandes, who came on as a substitute for the injured Javier Silverio, reduced the deficit with a well-taken goal. Fernandes received a through ball from Borja Fernandez, skillfully beat his marker, and struck a right-footed shot past Al Nassr's goalkeeper Bento, making the score 2-1. This was also the first goal Al-Nassr conceded in ACL Two this season. Fernandes' goal was the first-ever goal for FC Goa in the AFC Champions League Two.
The second half saw Al Nassr maintain possession, but they struggled to find a third goal. FC Goa also had their moments, with Boris Singh Thangjam coming close to equalizing. However, his effort was thwarted by a crucial save from Bento. Al Nassr coach Jorge Jesus brought on Sadio Mane and Joao Felix in the second half to try and force the issue.
As the game neared its end, FC Goa's hopes of a comeback were dealt a blow when David Timor received a straight red card for a late challenge. Al Nassr held on to secure a 2-1 victory.
Al Nassr now top Group D with nine points from three games, maintaining a perfect record. FC Goa, on the other hand, remain at the bottom of the group, having suffered their third consecutive defeat.
FC Goa will travel to Riyadh for the reverse fixture against Al Nassr on November 5.
