Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed added fuel to the fire by suggesting that Khan's surname might be a factor in his non-selection, a claim that drew strong condemnation from the BJP.
Pathan, while not directly addressing the communal undertones, has subtly defended Agarkar and Gautam Gambhir, seemingly alluding to a different "plan" at play.
