Oliver Moore's Blackhawks Recall: Will the IceHogs Standout Ignite Chicago's Offense and Team Performance?

The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled forward Oliver Moore from the Rockford IceHogs, their AHL affiliate. The announcement came today, November 3, as the team prepares to face the Seattle Kraken. In a corresponding move, forward Jason Dickinson was placed on injured reserve, retroactive to October 30.

Moore, a 20-year-old, was drafted by the Blackhawks in the first round (19th overall) of the 2023 NHL draft. He has had a strong start to the 2025-26 season with the IceHogs, leading all AHL rookies in goals with six and totaling nine points in nine games. His nine points also put him fourth overall in points among all AHL players.

Blackhawks coach Jeff Blashill has taken note of Moore's strong performance in Rockford. "I know Oliver Moore's had a good start," Blashill said on October 31. "I know Nick Lardis has had a good start. I think our young defensemen are all playing well, so it's good. It's great to see those guys playing well".

Moore's recall provides the Blackhawks with a potential offensive boost as they navigate Dickinson's absence. Moore's speed and skill could inject some energy into the lineup. Blashill has confirmed that Moore will play tonight against the Seattle Kraken.

Moore's strong training camp performance had already suggested he was close to NHL readiness. The Blackhawks, however, opted to prioritize his development with significant ice time in Rockford. This decision appears to have paid dividends, given Moore's impressive start to the AHL season.

The IceHogs currently hold a 6-4 record and rank second in the AHL's Central Division. Moore has contributed some highlight-reel moments, including two two-goal games. His transition to professional hockey in North America has been seamless, showcasing his potential to become a key player for the Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks' decision to recall Moore reflects their commitment to developing young talent within their system. With Dickinson sidelined, this presents Moore with an opportunity to showcase his abilities at the NHL level and potentially solidify his place in the Blackhawks' lineup. It remains to be seen how long Moore will remain with the Blackhawks, but his initial call-up signals a significant step in his professional career.
