FIFA Awards Spotlight: Kane, Yamal, and Bonmatí Vie for the Coveted "Best" Title

The Best FIFA Football Awards 2025 shortlist has been revealed, featuring a star-studded lineup of nominees across various categories. The awards recognize the most outstanding performers in football, celebrating achievements from August 11, 2024, to August 2, 2025.

In the running for The Best FIFA Men's Player are established stars and emerging talents. Harry Kane, who finally captured a major trophy by winning the 2024/25 Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, is among the nominees. His consistent goal-scoring form has kept him at the top of the game.

Lamine Yamal, the teenage sensation from Barcelona, also joins the list. Yamal's contributions were instrumental in Barcelona's domestic Treble, and he also clinched Euro 2024 with Spain. His exceptional skill has already earned him the Kopa Trophy in both 2024 and 2025. However, he finished second in the 2025 Ballon d'Or.

Ousmane Dembele is also a prominent nominee for The Best FIFA Men's Player 2025. Dembele is fresh off a career-defining season, securing the 2025 Ballon d'Or and the Champions League title with Paris St-Germain as part of another impressive Treble. He was also named Champions League Player of the Season.

Other contenders for the prestigious title include Kylian Mbappé, Mohamed Salah, Pedri, Cole Palmer, Achraf Hakimi, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes and Raphinha.

The Best FIFA Women's Player award also boasts a competitive shortlist. Aitana Bonmatí, who won the Best Women's Player award in both 2023 and 2024, is a leading candidate. Other notable nominees include Lauren James, Lucy Bronze and Alessia Russo.

The selection process for The Best FIFA Football Awards involves a combined vote from four equally weighted groups: national team captains, national team coaches, selected media representatives, and the general public. This voting system ensures a comprehensive assessment of the nominees' performances. Voting is now open and will close on November 28.

The awards ceremony will also recognize the best coaches and goalkeepers in both men's and women's football.
