Following an intense day at the IPL Auction 2026, the Gujarat Titans (GT) have finalized their squad, strategically blending retained core players with fresh talent to build a formidable team for the upcoming season. Led by captain Shubman Gill, the Titans entered the auction with a clear vision, aiming to reinforce specific areas while maintaining the stability that saw them win the title in 2022 and reach the final in 2023.
The Titans retained a strong core of 20 players, demonstrating faith in their established stars. Key retentions include Shubman Gill (c), Sai Sudharsan, and Rashid Khan, forming the backbone of their batting and spin attack. Other notable retentions were Rahul Tewatia, known for his match-winning abilities, and Mohammed Siraj, bolstering the pace bowling department. The team also held on to promising talents like Kumar Kushagra and Nishant Sindhu, indicating a focus on nurturing young players. The retained overseas players include Jos Buttler, Kagiso Rabada and Glenn Phillips.
However, GT also made some tough decisions, releasing players like Mahipal Lomror, Karim Janat, Dasun Shanaka, Gerald Coetzee and Kulwant Khejroliya to create space for new acquisitions. They also traded Sherfane Rutherford to Mumbai Indians.
With a remaining purse of ₹12.9 crore, the Titans strategically targeted specific areas in the auction. They aimed to fill five vacant slots, with a focus on overseas talent to add depth and variety to their squad. One notable purchase was Ashok Sharma for ₹90 lakhs, adding to their pool of domestic talent.
