Spain will finish 2025 as the top-ranked nation in the FIFA Men's World Ranking, according to the latest update released on December 22, 2025. La Roja reclaimed the top spot in September and maintained their position through the end of the year, accumulating 1877.18 points. This marks the first time since 2013 that Spain has ended the year as the highest-ranked team.
Reigning World Cup champions Argentina trail closely behind in second place with 1873.33 points. France rounds out the top three, holding steady in third with 1870.00 points. The top 10 sees no changes from the previous ranking. England, Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Croatia complete the top 10, respectively.
The United States Men's National Team (USMNT) finishes the year in 14th place. The USMNT climbed two spots to overtake Mexico as the highest-ranked nation in the CONCACAF region. Mexico sits just behind the U.S. in 15th place, while Canada holds the 27th position. Under manager Mauricio Pochettino, the USMNT has shown consistency, remaining undefeated in their last five matches, including victories over Paraguay and Uruguay.
Morocco is just outside the top 10, in 11th place. After winning the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, Morocco is only 0.54 points behind Croatia, and is trying to break into the top 10 for the first time since April 1998. Jordan, who lost to Morocco in the Arab Cup final, moved up two spots to 64th.
Kosovo was one of the year's most improved teams, gaining 89.02 ranking points, and moving up from 99th to 80th in the world. Vietnam and Singapore also made notable climbs, rising three spots each to 107th and 148th, respectively.
The December 2025 edition of the FIFA rankings considered the results of 41 international fixtures, with the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 taking center stage. The next update to the FIFA rankings is scheduled for January 19, 2026. The FIFA rankings, which were first introduced in December 1992, are updated multiple times a year. The rankings are based on the Elo model, which factors in relative team strength, match importance, match result, and expected match result.
