Ruben Amorim believes Newcastle spirit can deliver Manchester United victories consistently in the future.

Ruben Amorim believes the resilience Manchester United displayed in their recent 1-0 victory over Newcastle United can translate into future success, potentially winning them "so many games". The Boxing Day win at Old Trafford saw United weather a second-half storm from Newcastle, clinging to Patrick Dorgu's first-half volley.

Amorim acknowledged the team had to "suffer altogether in the stadium". He admitted that while United's first half was strong, the second half was largely a defensive effort. Despite Newcastle's dominance in possession and attempts on goal, United secured a clean sheet, their first in 10 games.

"If we have always this spirit we are going to win so many games," Amorim stated. He emphasized the importance of winning even when not playing at their best, highlighting the value of "spirit and togetherness".

Injuries to key players like Bruno Fernandes, Bryan Mbeumo, and Amad Diallo forced Amorim to make adjustments to the lineup. Patrick Dorgu, often a left wing-back, started on the right of midfield, scoring the decisive goal. Amorim explained that this change of position gave Dorgu more freedom and helped him play better. He also noted that Lisandro Martinez, part of the team's leadership group, wore the captain's armband in Fernandes' absence.

Amorim highlighted the significance of having experienced players to guide the younger members of the squad. He was particularly pleased with the progress of 19-year-old Ayden Heaven, who has been a consistent presence in the Premier League lineup. Amorim also praised Dorgu's recent performances, attributing his turnaround to the "normal life of a player" with its ups and downs.

The Manchester United manager made some tactical decisions that raised eyebrows, including playing a flat back-four, a departure from his usual system. Despite the changes and Newcastle's pressure, the defense held firm, securing only their second clean sheet of the season. Amorim felt the formation change was necessary to create more danger and opportunities.

The win lifted Manchester United to fifth in the Premier League, level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea. While Amorim acknowledged the team's fortune in securing the victory, he believes the demonstrated spirit and resilience can propel them forward.
