Nashville Predators' Late Goal Ends Calgary Flames' Winning Streak in a Thrilling, Close-fought Contest

In a dramatic turn of events, the Nashville Predators defeated the Calgary Flames 4-3 on Saturday night, snapping the Flames' three-game winning streak in the final minute of play. Nicolas Hague's late goal, a shot from the blue line that deflected off Flames defenseman MacKenzie Weegar, sealed the victory for the Predators with just 28 seconds remaining in the third period.

The game, played at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, was a tightly contested affair with both teams battling for a crucial win. The Predators' victory puts them at 19-18-4 for the season, while the Flames fall to 18-19-4.

Yan Kuznetsov opened the scoring for the Flames early in the first period, just under two minutes into the game. However, the Predators responded quickly with Erik Haula scoring twice in a span of 1:33 in his 800th NHL game. Haula's first goal was assisted by a pass from Michael Bunting, and his second goal came on a rush, beating Dustin Wolf. Rasmus Andersson then tied the game for the Flames, scoring less than a minute after Haula's second goal.

In the second period, Michael Bunting capitalized on a miscue by Flames goalie Dustin Wolf to regain the lead for the Predators. Wolf came out of his net to play the puck along the end boards, but his attempt to shoot the puck up the boards went directly onto Bunting's stick, who then fired it into the empty net.

Blake Coleman tied the game for the Flames in the third period, scoring with just over seven minutes remaining. However, Hague's late goal ultimately secured the win for the Predators.

Michael Bunting had a standout performance for the Predators, with a goal and three assists. Steven Stamkos also contributed with two assists. Juuse Saros recorded 20 saves for the Predators, earning the win. Dustin Wolf had 32 saves for the Flames in the losing effort.

The game also featured some physicality, with John Beecher of the Flames and Michael McCarron of the Predators getting into a skirmish in the first period. Beecher received a roughing minor and a 10-minute misconduct for punching McCarron. Beecher later left the game with an upper-body injury after a second-period fight with Hague.

The Predators will continue their road trip against the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. The Flames will host the Seattle Kraken on Monday night.
