Brady Tkachuk, the Ottawa Senators' captain and a key player for the team, recently achieved a significant milestone by scoring his 200th regular-season NHL goal. This achievement came during the Senators' dominant 8-4 victory over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night. Tkachuk also contributed three assists in the game, totaling four points.
Tkachuk is the fourth player in Senators history to score 200 goals for the franchise. He reached the 200-goal mark in 538 games, making him the second-fastest Senator to hit the milestone, only surpassed by Alexei Yashin, who did it in 471 games. Tkachuk surpassed Jason Spezza, who needed 549 games to reach the same mark.
The Senators demonstrated their offensive capabilities early in the game against the Rangers, scoring four goals in the first period, a first in their franchise history at Madison Square Garden. Tkachuk's goal was part of that initial surge. Drake Batherson started the scoring with a power-play goal, followed by Nick Jensen. Tkachuk then scored, and Dylan Cozens capped off the period.
Beyond Tkachuk's milestone, the Senators' victory highlighted contributions from across the lineup. Dylan Cozens ended the night with a goal and two assists, while Ridly Greig had his first three-point game in the NHL with three assists. Jake Sanderson, David Perron, and Nick Jensen each contributed a goal and an assist. Thomas Chabot also scored, and Tim Stutzle added an empty-net goal to seal the win.
The dominant win against the Rangers followed another victory against Vancouver, signaling a potential turnaround for the Senators after a four-game losing streak. Coach Travis Green emphasized the importance of playing with discipline, especially when holding a lead, as the Senators navigated the high-scoring game.
Looking ahead, Tkachuk is preparing to represent the United States at the Milan Cortina Olympics. The Senators are scheduled to host the Montreal Canadiens in their next game.
Tkachuk, drafted fourth overall by the Senators in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, has become a cornerstone of the team. Before turning professional, he played for Boston University, earning All-Hockey East Rookie Team honors. In October 2021, Tkachuk signed a seven-year, $57.5 million contract with the Senators. Just a few weeks later, he was named the tenth captain in the Senators' history.
Off the ice, Tkachuk is involved in charitable work through his foundation, Tkachuk Captains, which supports youth initiatives in Ottawa. He hosted "Brady's Skate For Kids" in January 2025, partnering with BGC Ottawa to provide local children with a skating and mentorship opportunity.
