Liverpool manager Arne Slot has said that he "completely understands" the frustration of Liverpool fans after their 1-1 draw against Burnley at Anfield on Saturday. The result, which saw the reigning Premier League champions drop points against a team battling relegation, was met with boos from the home crowd at the final whistle.

Slot, speaking after the game, acknowledged the fans' disappointment, stating, "If we, as Liverpool, are not disappointed by having a draw against Burnley at home then something is completely wrong". He further added, "I completely understand the frustration. I am the same and the players definitely have the same frustrations as the fans have".

The draw against Burnley marks Liverpool's fourth consecutive draw in the Premier League. Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances, including 32 shots with 11 on target, Liverpool were unable to secure the win. Dominik Szoboszlai missed a penalty in the first half, and while Florian Wirtz scored after a good play with Hugo Ekitike, Marcus Edwards equalized for Burnley with their only shot on target.

Slot addressed Liverpool's inability to convert chances into goals, saying, "Of course I am very disappointed about the result... Even for our standards, we've added even more ball possession than we usually have. This time we were able to create a lot, but not for the first time this season we hardly conceded a chance, but we did concede a goal". He also pointed to Burnley's defensive efforts, acknowledging their commitment to "defending, clearing balls off the line, all the things you want to see if you are the Burnley manager, trying everything to prevent us scoring".

The result means Liverpool have become the first reigning Premier League champions to fail to win at home against all three promoted sides in a season. Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard described the draw as "unacceptable" and suggested that Slot would be facing a "difficult week" in light of the result. Gerrard, while acknowledging Slot's work in steadying the ship and bringing the team back into Champions League contention, highlighted the criticism the manager would likely face due to the dropped points.

Slot also commented on the challenges his team faces against teams employing a low block, saying, "It's not so easy if you face a low block, especially in this league with so many good players, then to create so many good chances. That's why I was really pleased to see how many chances we could create today". He remains optimistic that Liverpool will eventually convert these chances into wins, stating, "It's worth a lot because it does give us the confidence that in other games that eventually we will win those games, because it cannot go on like this". Despite the draw, Liverpool are currently on a 10-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.
