Foden and Savinho shine as Manchester City dominates Huddersfield in Carabao Cup triumph.

Manchester City advanced to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town. Phil Foden and Savinho scored the goals that secured the win for the Premier League champions.

Pep Guardiola made nine changes to the City lineup following their 1-1 draw against Arsenal in the Premier League. Only Foden and Nico O'Reilly retained their places in the starting eleven. The changes resulted in a lack of precision in front of goal for the Cityzens.

Despite the numerous changes, City dominated the match, enjoying 81.9% of possession in the first half. However, they struggled to create clear-cut chances early on. In the 18th minute, Foden broke the deadlock with a well-taken goal. He played a one-two with Divine Mukasa on the edge of the box before drilling a shot into the bottom corner.

Huddersfield, who had made seven changes to their own starting lineup, defended resolutely, but they struggled to contain City's relentless pressure. The home side's biggest cheer in the first half came when Foden curled a 20-yard free-kick over the crossbar. Just before halftime, Huddersfield skipper Ben Wiles flashed an angled effort just wide of James Trafford's left-hand post.

In the second half, City continued to dominate possession and create chances. Murray Wallace blocked Mukasa's shot following a cross from O'Reilly, and Savinho pulled a shot off target. O'Reilly was later denied by a save from Huddersfield goalkeeper Lee Nicholls. Savinho finally extended City's lead in the 74th minute, firing home from a tight angle.

Teenage midfielder Divine Mukasa made his first senior appearance for Manchester City, one of six homegrown players in the starting line-up. Jaden Heskey and his brother Reigan also made their first team debuts. Zepiqueno Redmond, on loan from Aston Villa, made his full debut for Huddersfield.
