Postecoglou Praises Forest's Growth: Positive Signs Emerge After Hard-Fought Draw Against Real Betis.

Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou expressed his satisfaction with the team's progress despite a 2-2 draw against Real Betis in their Europa League opener. The match, held in Seville, marked Forest's return to European competition after nearly three decades.

Real Betis took an early lead through Cedric Bakambu. However, Forest responded quickly with Igor Jesus scoring twice in quick succession to put the Reds ahead. Despite creating numerous chances, Forest failed to capitalize, and Antony leveled the score late in the game.

Postecoglou acknowledged the challenging conditions in Seville, including high humidity and a difficult pitch. He praised his team's outstanding football, particularly in the first half, and their receptiveness to his methods. However, he lamented their lack of clinical edge in finishing the game.

"I'm really disappointed tonight they didn't get the rewards for the good play, because that fuels it even more, they feel even better about the way things are going," Postecoglou said. He stressed the importance of the players maintaining their focus despite not securing a victory.

Postecoglou's wait for his first win as Nottingham Forest boss extends to a fourth game. Nevertheless, he remains positive about the team's direction. He believes the Europa League campaign will provide valuable experience and accelerate the team's growth.

Reflecting on the match, Postecoglou stated, "I really felt like we were still had control in the second half and don't think we got opened up at any stage". He expressed frustration that his side did not put the game to bed in the first half when they were dominant.

The Forest manager also acknowledged the progress the club has made in recent years. He highlighted the significance of their return to European football and the excitement surrounding the Europa League campaign.
