The Premier League witnessed another exciting Saturday of football as Chelsea hosted Sunderland, and Newcastle United welcomed Fulham to St. James' Park. Several other matches filled the afternoon, providing a feast of action for fans across the country.

Chelsea faced newly-promoted Sunderland at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues aiming to continue their impressive form. Chelsea has been in terrific form, securing four straight wins in all competitions. Much was made of Enzo Maresca's youthful starting XI against Ajax in the Champions League, but some of the more experienced players were expected to return for the Sunderland match. Chelsea won each of their past four matches in all competitions, with three of those victories coming at home, including a 5-1 thrashing of Dutch giants Ajax in midweek. Despite missing key players like Cole Palmer and Malo Gusto, Chelsea hoped to capitalize on their strong home form. Only Manchester City has earned more home Premier League points in 2025 than Chelsea. Meanwhile, Sunderland, after a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United before the international break, responded by beating Wolves by the same scoreline. Sunderland entered the game with 14 points, the same as Chelsea, but the Blues have the edge in goals scored, 16 to Sunderland's nine.

Newcastle United played Fulham at St. James' Park, with both teams looking to improve their league positions. Newcastle hoped to build momentum, especially with Nick Woltemade in good form after a strong performance against Benfica in the Champions League. Newcastle United beat decent if unspectacular opponents, with a decent if unspectacular performance. The Magpies were, however, short on key players due to injuries. Fulham, sitting just one point behind Newcastle in the league table, aimed to secure their first league victory at St. James' Park since 2011. Fulham has lost their last 3 matches (Premier League).
