Eze's Goal Against Palace Extends Arsenal's Premier League Advantage: A Sweet Victory Against His Old Team.

Eberechi Eze's first Premier League goal for Arsenal secured a 1-0 victory against his former club, Crystal Palace, at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. The win extends Arsenal's lead at the top of the Premier League table to four points.

The match was a hard-fought contest, with Arsenal ultimately prevailing thanks to Eze's decisive strike in the 39th minute. A free-kick from Declan Rice was headed back into the middle by Gabriel Magalhães, finding Eze, who volleyed the ball into the bottom-right corner.

Arsenal had opportunities to increase their lead after the break. Gabriel's header struck the crossbar, and Dean Henderson, Crystal Palace's goalkeeper, denied Rice's follow-up. Bukayo Saka also curled a shot just wide. Crystal Palace, on the other hand, struggled to create clear-cut chances, failing to register a single shot on target throughout the match.

Eze's move to Arsenal from Crystal Palace occurred in August 2025 for an initial fee of £60 million, potentially rising to £67.5 million with add-ons. He signed a four-year deal and was given the number 10 shirt. Prior to joining Arsenal, Eze made over 150 appearances for Crystal Palace, scoring the winning goal in the 2025 FA Cup final.

Speaking about his move to Arsenal, Eze admitted he was close to joining Tottenham Hotspur before Arsenal made their move. He stated that playing for Arsenal had always been a dream, having been in the club's academy as a youngster.

Arsenal's victory, coupled with Manchester City's 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa, puts them in a strong position in the title race. They now sit four points clear of Bournemouth, who are second, and six points ahead of Manchester City. Liverpool are a further point behind the defending champions.

The Gunners have displayed impressive defensive solidity this season, conceding just three goals in their nine league games. This defensive record, combined with their attacking talent, makes them a formidable force in the Premier League. Arsenal's next Premier League match is against Brighton.

For Crystal Palace, the defeat leaves them in 9th position in the league. They will be looking to bounce back in their next match.
