Injury, Rain, and Disappointment: India's World Cup Match Against Bangladesh Ends in Frustration After Pratika Rawal Scare.

Navi Mumbai, October 26, 2025 – Rain played spoilsport, washing out India's final league stage match against Bangladesh in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 at the DY Patil Sports Academy. The match was cut short to 27 overs per side due to persistent showers. India and Bangladesh shared a point each as a result of the washout.

India's chase was hampered by the weather. The DLS-revised target was set at 126. India had reached 57 for no loss in 8.4 overs when heavy rain returned, ultimately leading to the match being called off. Smriti Mandhana remained unbeaten on 34, while Amanjot Kaur was not out on 15.

Earlier in the day, India opted to bowl first. Bangladesh struggled to gain momentum and were restricted to 119 for 9 in their 27 overs. Sharmin Akter top-scored for Bangladesh with 36. Radha Yadav led the Indian bowling attack with 3 wickets for 30 runs, while Sree Charani took 2 for 23.

The match was also marked by an injury scare to India's in-form opener, Pratika Rawal. While fielding at deep midwicket in the 21st over, Rawal twisted her right ankle while attempting to stop a boundary. Her foot seemed to get stuck on the wet outfield, causing her to collapse in pain. The medical staff rushed to her aid, and she was eventually helped off the field.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) later released a statement saying that the medical team is closely monitoring Rawal's progress. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur said that they are hoping to get an update on Pratika soon.

Amanjot Kaur opened the innings with Smriti Mandhana in Rawal's absence. The pair provided India with a quickfire start, putting together a 50-run partnership. However, their momentum was cut short by the returning rain.

India has already qualified for the semifinals and will face Australia on Thursday in Navi Mumbai. Rawal's injury is a significant concern for the team ahead of the crucial match. She has been a key player for India in the tournament, scoring 308 runs at an average of 51.33. She is the team's second-highest run-scorer in the tournament. Her century against New Zealand was instrumental in securing India's place in the semifinals.

Radha Yadav's performance was a positive takeaway for India from the match. Playing her first match of the tournament, Yadav picked up three wickets and also contributed with a direct hit to run out Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty.

The Indian team will be hoping for a swift recovery for Pratika Rawal as they gear up for the semifinal clash against Australia. The extent of her injury is yet to be determined, but her presence will be crucial for India's chances of winning the World Cup.
