Mammoth Edge Jets: A Nail-Biting 3-2 Victory at Canada Life Centre in a Hard-Fought Contest.

The Utah Mammoth defeated the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 in a closely contested game at Canada Life Centre on Sunday night. With the victory, the Mammoth have extended their winning streak to seven games and improved their season record to 8-2-0.

Dylan Guenther's late goal for the Mammoth proved to be the game-winner with 5:36 remaining in the third period. The Jets rallied with goals from Dylan DeMelo and Mark Scheifele, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Mammoth's strong play. Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck made 29 saves for the Jets.

The first period was scoreless, but the second period saw both teams trade goals. DeMelo scored his first goal since January 20 to give the Jets a 1-0 lead. The Mammoth responded with two goals within 1:04 from Mikhail Sergachev and Michael Carcone to take the lead. Scheifele then scored on the power play to tie the game at 2-2.

According to Jets' Josh Morrissey, the third period was "there for the taking," but the Mammoth capitalized on a late opportunity. JJ Peterka forced a turnover in the Jets' zone and passed the puck to Logan Cooley, who then found Guenther in the slot. Guenther's shot beat Hellebuyck high glove side, giving the Mammoth a 3-2 lead they would not relinquish. Morrissey assisted on both Jets goals. Kyle Connor also had an assist, moving him into third place on the franchise list with 305.

The Jets will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they travel to St. Paul to face the Minnesota Wild. The Mammoth will aim to continue their winning streak in their next game.
