Thomas Frank predicts a bright future for Micky van de Ven at Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur's Micky van de Ven is garnering high praise, with head coach Thomas Frank expressing confidence in the defender's future with the club. Frank's comments come on the heels of van de Ven's impressive performance in Sunday's 3-0 victory against Everton, where the center-back scored twice, bringing his season total to five goals in 13 appearances.

Van de Ven, who joined Tottenham in 2023 on a six-year deal, has become an integral part of the team, particularly stepping up in the absence of captain Cristian Romero. Romero recently signed a new contract in August, and Rodrigo Bentancur has also extended his terms, signaling Spurs' commitment to maintaining their core group of players. This core group was instrumental in the club's Europa League success in May.

Despite speculation linking the 24-year-old Dutch defender to Real Madrid, Frank remains unconcerned, emphasizing van de Ven's happiness and the club's satisfaction with him. "Yeah, very happy with Micky. I think he has been brilliant for the club since he signed and he has taken some steps up this season," Frank stated. He further added, "I think he actually defends even better. I think he is still very good on the ball, he added the goals and the headed goals, which I am very happy with. He's a threat from set-pieces".

Frank also highlighted van de Ven's growing character and leadership qualities. "Character and leadership also growing and as far as I know, we have a good contract with him but definitely a player I see with a big future at the club," he said.

Tottenham is set to face Carabao Cup holders Newcastle on Wednesday, and van de Ven is expected to play a key role, especially with Romero still recovering from an adductor issue. Frank's focus remains on van de Ven's present contributions and positive attitude. "I think he is happy here, that is very important and we're happy with him, so let's see what happens in the future," Frank commented. "I think the most important thing is it looks like he really enjoys his football, he really enjoys his time here, I am very happy with him, everyone is really happy, so that's a good sign".

Since his appointment in June, Frank has consistently adjusted the team's lineup, and changes are anticipated for the upcoming match against Newcastle.
