India's youth boxing contingent has delivered a spectacular performance at the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain, achieving the nation's best-ever showing in youth boxing at the continental level. Indian boxers have clinched a remarkable medal haul, contributing significantly to India's overall medal tally of 41, which includes 12 golds, 15 silvers, and 14 bronze.
The golden charge was led by the impressive performances of Khushi Chand, Ahaana Sharma, and Chandrika Bhoreshi Pujari, who secured a hat-trick of gold medals in their respective weight categories. Anshika added a fourth gold to the tally, while Lanchenba Singh Moibungkhongbam clinched a silver, and Anant Deshmukh secured a bronze, further solidifying India's dominance in the sport. This outstanding performance has placed India at the top of the Girls' Boxing section, highlighting the country's growing strength in youth boxing on the Asian stage.
Khushi Chand (46kg) initiated India's golden run with a confident 4:1 victory over China's Luo Jinxiu, demonstrating superior ring control and precision. Ahaana Sharma (50kg) followed up with a dominant performance, forcing a Referee Stopped Contest (RSC) in the first round against Ma Jong Hyang of the People's Republic of Korea. Chandrika Bhoreshi Pujari (54kg) then completed the golden hat-trick, overpowering Uzbekistan's Muhammadova Kumriniso in a commanding 5:0 decision. Anshika (+80kg) added the fourth gold medal.
In the boys' final, Lanchenba Singh Moibungkhongbam (50kg) displayed great skill and determination but narrowly missed out on gold, settling for silver after a hard-fought bout against Kazakhstan's Nurmakhan Zhumagali. Earlier, Anant Deshmukh (66kg) secured a bronze medal, contributing to India's impressive medal count.
These accomplishments underscore the effectiveness of India's youth boxing program and the rigorous training undertaken at NS NIS Patiala, under the guidance of Head Coaches Vinod Kumar (boys) and Jitender Raj Singh (girls). Adding to India's success at the Youth Asian Games, Sani Subhash Fulmali, Anjali, and Arjun Ruhil won gold medals in beach wrestling. Sani Subhash defeated Iran's Amirali Domirkolaei 2-0, Anjali defeated Vietnam's Bui Ngoc Thao Thom 2-1, and Arjun overcame Iran's Mohammadmahdi Fotouhi in the 90kg category. Sujay Nagnath Tanpure and Ravinder secured silver medals after losing their respective finals.
