Jannik Sinner Dominates Alexander Zverev, Secures Coveted Semifinal Berth at the ATP Finals Tournament.

Turin, Italy – In a dominant display in front of his home crowd, Jannik Sinner secured his place in the semifinals of the 2025 ATP Finals by defeating Alexander Zverev 6-4, 6-3. The defending champion delivered a high-quality performance, marking his third victory over Zverev in just 17 days. With this win, Sinner maintains a perfect 2-0 record in the Bjorn Borg group.

Sinner, currently ranked No. 2 in the world, extended his winning streak on indoor hard courts to 28 matches. His composure was on full display as he saved all seven break points he faced against Zverev. The Italian showcased his resilience, particularly when trailing 0-40 in his second service game of the second set, where he landed three consecutive first serves to hold.

The match, lasting one hour and 37 minutes, saw Sinner capitalize on crucial moments. He earned a decisive break at 5-4 in the first set, clinching it on his third set point after winning a thrilling 17-ball rally. Sinner's ability to raise his intensity and feed off the energy of the home crowd inside Inalpi Arena proved pivotal.

Zverev, a two-time former champion at the ATP Finals, struggled to find an answer against Sinner. Despite holding two break points in the opening game of the match, he couldn't convert them, and his morale seemed to visibly decline after Sinner broke in the final game of the first set. This loss marks Zverev's fifth consecutive defeat against Sinner, with his last win in their head-to-head rivalry dating back to the 2023 US Open.

Sinner's serve was a key weapon throughout the match, landing 12 aces, including four in the first game alone. According to Infosys ATP Stats, he landed his first serve on each of the seven break points he faced. Sinner also used the drop shot effectively, keeping Zverev off balance.

With his place in the semifinals secured, Sinner will have a rest day before his final round-robin match against Ben Shelton. Meanwhile, Zverev needs to win against Felix Auger-Aliassime to have a chance to join Sinner in the semi-finals.

Sinner is still in contention for the ATP Year-End No. 1 ranking. To achieve this, he must win the title this week without losing a match and hope that Carlos Alcaraz does not perform better.

Sinner has an impressive 35-3 record on hard courts in 2025, with his only losses to Carlos Alcaraz and a retirement against Tallon Griekspoor. He is also aiming to become the first man since Ivan Lendl in 1986 to win the ATP Finals title by securing every victory in straight sets.
