Chelsea secured a 2-0 victory against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday, thanks to goals from Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernández. The win propelled Chelsea to second place in the Premier League standings, closing the gap on leaders Arsenal to three points.
The Blues, playing without the injured Cole Palmer, who suffered a toe fracture at home, and Moisés Caicedo, who started on the bench after a gruelling international break, managed a solid performance against a determined Burnley side. Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, overseeing his 50th Premier League match, made four changes to the starting lineup, bringing in Reece James, Tosin Adarabioyo, Andrey Santos and Jamie Gittens.
Burnley started brightly, with Jaidon Anthony and Loum Tchaouna posing threats on the flanks. However, Chelsea's defense, particularly Andrey Santos, held firm, preventing Burnley from creating clear-cut chances. Chelsea gradually found their rhythm, with their front three showing promising touches and runs around the box.
The opening goal arrived in the 37th minute when Jamie Gittens delivered a precise cross from the left, and Pedro Neto connected with a diving header to put Chelsea ahead. It was Neto's third goal in his last five starts.
In the second half, Chelsea continued to dominate possession, but Burnley remained resilient. Neto almost doubled the lead in the 63rd minute, but his shot struck the woodwork. Burnley struggled to create clear chances, managing just two shots on target throughout the match.
Chelsea sealed the victory in the 88th minute with a counter-attack. Robert Sanchez and Malo Gusto combined to set up Enzo Fernández, who fired home from close range. The goal secured Chelsea's third consecutive Premier League win without conceding.
Andrey Santos, filling in for Caicedo, impressed in midfield, winning tackles and duels. Chelsea's youth policy was further highlighted as they played their 50th consecutive game without a player aged 30 or older in the starting XI.
Despite not being at full speed, Chelsea successfully avoided any slip-ups at Turf Moor. The win marked Chelsea's eighth consecutive Premier League victory in Saturday's 12:30 kick-off slot.
Burnley's struggles at home continued, as they are now winless in their last ten Premier League home games against Chelsea.
