The St. Louis Blues defeated the New York Islanders 2-1 on Saturday, with Jordan Binnington making an impressive 30 saves to help his team snap a four-game losing streak. The game took place at UBS Arena, marking the Islanders' first home game after a successful 6-1-0 road trip.

Brayden Schenn scored early for the Blues, just 42 seconds into the first period, assisted by Pavel Buchnevich. Pius Suter extended St. Louis' lead to 2-0 with a goal late in the second period. Anders Lee managed to cut the deficit for the Islanders with a goal in the third period.

Despite the efforts of the Islanders and goalie Ilya Sorokin, who stopped 20 shots, they couldn't overcome Binnington's stellar performance. A late Islanders goal by Bo Horvat was waved off due to goalie interference, and they were unable to capitalize on a power play in the final minutes.

The announced attendance of 17,255 was the Islanders' first sellout since their home opener on October 11. The crowd brought energy with frequent "Let's Go Islanders" chants, but the team couldn't secure the win.

Islanders coach Patrick Roy acknowledged the difficulty of returning from a long road trip, stating that the team didn't have the same jump they had on the road. Captain Anders Lee echoed this sentiment, noting that the team's legs felt heavy.

The Blues' victory marked a significant turnaround after a series of close losses, including three that went to overtime or a shootout. The Islanders, on the other hand, experienced only their second game this season where they failed to score more than one goal.

Looking ahead, the Blues are scheduled to visit the New York Rangers on Monday night, while the Islanders will host the Seattle Kraken on Sunday. Blues goalie David Rittich is expected to start on Sunday. Before the game, a moment of silence was held for the late New York Post hockey columnist Larry Brooks, who covered the Islanders.
