Jacob Misiorowski, a Brewers pitching phenom, experienced his first major league setback despite a strong showing from the team, as the Milwaukee Brewers emerged victorious in a 3-1 game.
On July 6, 2025, Brandon Woodruff made his first start in 651 days, pitching six strong innings, while Jackson Chourio homered and drove in all three runs, leading the Milwaukee Brewers to a 3-1 victory against the Miami Marlins. Woodruff (1-0) allowed one single in the third inning and a home run in the fifth, both to rookie Heriberto Hernandez. He struck out eight batters and didn't walk any, throwing 53 of 70 pitches for strikes. Christian Yelich had an infield hit in the third and stole his 13th base before Chourio hit his 15th homer on a 1-1 pitch from Edward Cabrera, giving the Brewers a 2-0 lead.
Hernandez hit his third homer, narrowing the score to 2-1. Chourio added a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning. Trevor Megill pitched the ninth for his 20th save in 23 opportunities. Cabrera (3-3) allowed two runs in seven innings.
In another game on June 15, 2024, Joey Ortiz hit a three-run homer, and Bryse Wilson allowed three hits in 5 1/3 innings, contributing to the Brewers' 3-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds, after winning nine of 11 games, fell to 34-36, missing an opportunity to reach .500 for the first time since May 3. Wilson walked two and struck out six. Trevor Megill faced challenges in the ninth but recovered to secure his 12th save in 13 chances.
Looking ahead, the Milwaukee Brewers will host an Alumni Home Run Derby following their game against the Miami Marlins on July 25, celebrating 25 years at American Family Field. Ryan Braun and Carlos Gomez will serve as team captains.
