However, Harmanpreet Singh once again stepped up, converting another penalty corner in the 45th minute to restore India's two-goal advantage.
The final quarter saw Japan mount a late comeback. Kawabe scored again in the 59th minute, making it a tense finish. India's captain, Harmanpreet Singh, received a yellow card late in the game, forcing India to finish the match with 10 men. Despite the late pressure and a man down, India managed to hold on to their narrow lead and secure the win.
