Newcastle United defender Dan Burn has publicly addressed Alexander Isak's high-profile transfer to Liverpool, stating that he harbors "no hard feelings" towards his former teammate. Isak's move to Anfield was finalized on deadline day for a reported British record fee of £125 million. The transfer brought an end to a summer filled with speculation and, at times, strained relations between the player and Newcastle United.

Burn, speaking to the media while on international duty with England, offered a balanced perspective on the situation. He acknowledged the frustration felt by Newcastle fans, who are known for being fiercely protective of their club and city. "As a Newcastle fan myself, you know what Newcastle fans are like; we're protective of our club and city, and you want players who want to be there for Newcastle," Burn explained. He added that fans "don't want them to sort of naively think there is anywhere else to go apart from playing for Newcastle," expressing his understanding of their disappointment.

However, Burn also emphasized his understanding of Isak's perspective, recognizing that players have short careers and personal ambitions they wish to fulfill. "I've been in football long enough to understand that for a player, their careers are short, and they have got things that they want to achieve," Burn stated. He also revealed that he considers Isak a friend, which made the situation particularly challenging. "Alex is a mate, so it was a tough situation because you want him to be around and helping the team - but also understanding what he needs to do personally," Burn said.

Isak's departure from Newcastle was not without controversy. He reportedly took "strike action" to push for the move, missing pre-season games and the opening matches of the season. This led to some resentment from the fanbase, who felt betrayed by his actions. Despite this, Burn insisted that there was no animosity between him and Isak. "I've got nothing but good wishes for Alex," Burn said.

Burn also expressed his relief that the transfer saga was finally over, bringing clarity to the situation. "I'm glad it's done," Burn told reporters. "I think we wanted the transfer window to close, just to have a bit of clarity on it". With Isak's move now complete, Newcastle has moved to bolster their attacking options, signing Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa. Burn believes that Newcastle had a "pretty good" transfer window, acquiring players that add "depth in every position".

Looking ahead, Burn wished Isak well at Liverpool, "apart from when we play Liverpool, obviously!". He also reiterated the importance of stability within the Newcastle squad moving forward.
