The Chicago Blackhawks have announced the election of Steve Larmer and Duncan Keith to the inaugural Blackhawks Hall of Fame class. The announcement, made Friday, September 5, 2025, coincides with single-game tickets going on sale.

Larmer was selected from the "Heritage" ballot, while Keith was chosen from the "Modern" ballot, following a vote by fans, alumni, and media. Blackhawks Chairman and CEO Danny Wirtz expressed immense pride in including Larmer and Keith in the inaugural class, emphasizing the lasting influence they've had on the franchise, as demonstrated by the incredible participation in the voting process.

In addition to Larmer and Keith, the inaugural class will include Glenn Hall (#1), Pierre Pilote and Keith Magnuson (#3), Chris Chelios (#7), Bobby Hull (#9), Denis Savard (#18), Stan Mikita (#21), Tony Esposito (#35), and Marian Hossa (#81) – all of whom have had their numbers retired by the organization, granting them automatic induction.

The inaugural Hall of Fame class will be formally honored on April 11 during a special Hall of Fame game against the St. Louis Blues. The game will feature a pregame ceremony and other activities to celebrate their contributions to the organization. The Blackhawks Hall of Fame will be a permanent fixture, with a dedicated physical space at the Fifth Third Arena. This space aims to connect generations and stand as a testament to those who have embodied the values and spirit of the Blackhawks.

Steve Larmer's Legacy

Steve Larmer played 891 regular-season games and 107 playoff games over 13 seasons with the Blackhawks. Larmer leads the Blackhawks in power-play goals (153), ranks fourth in goals (406), fifth in points (923), and seventh in assists (517). He also holds the record for playing 884 consecutive regular-season games with Chicago, the seventh-longest streak in NHL history. From 1982 to 1993, he had 11 straight 70-point seasons, the longest such streak in franchise history and one of the nine longest in NHL history. Larmer won the Calder Trophy in 1983.

Wirtz stated that Larmer "set the bar for what it means to be a Blackhawk". He further highlighted Larmer's remarkable production and iron-man streak as a foundation for future Blackhawks players and fans.

Duncan Keith's Illustrious Career

Duncan Keith, drafted by Chicago in the second round (54th overall) of the 2002 NHL Draft, is the all-time leader among Blackhawks defensemen in games played (1,192). Among Blackhawks defensemen, he ranks second in assists (520) and points (625), and third in goals (105). Keith also leads franchise defensemen in career postseason games played (135), assists (68), and points (86), and ranks fourth with 18 playoff goals. Keith won three Stanley Cups with Chicago (2010, 2013, and 2015). He won the Norris Trophy twice (2010 and 2014), was named to the NHL's First All-Star Team twice (2010 and 2014), and earned Second All-Star Team honors in 2017. He also won two Olympic gold medals with Canada (2010 and 2014) and a silver medal in the 2008 IIHF World Championship. In January 2017, as part of the NHL's Centennial celebration, Keith was named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players. He was also elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2025.

Wirtz lauded Keith's impact on hockey as "nothing short of astounding," referring to him as "an anchor of three Stanley Cups". Wirtz added that through his elite playmaking, grit, and leadership, Keith helped shape a modern dynasty and cemented himself as one of the best to ever play.
