Milwaukee Brewers' closer Trevor Megill has been added to the National League All-Star roster for the 2025 All-Star Game. Megill is replacing Brewers teammate Freddy Peralta, who was initially selected but is scheduled to pitch for the Brewers against Washington on Sunday. The All-Star Game presented by Mastercard will be played at Atlanta’s Truist Park on July 15.

Megill, who wears number 29, has had an outstanding season as the Brewers' closer, particularly stepping up in the absence of Devin Williams. Through Wednesday, July 9, he boasts a 2-2 record with a 2.41 ERA, along with 21 saves and 43 strikeouts in 33 2/3 innings. Before being officially named to the All-Star roster, Megill showcased his skills by striking out Freddie Freeman, Andy Pages, and Tommy Edman in the 10th inning, securing a 3-2 victory for the Brewers against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

"This was the goal in the offseason," Megill said. "Just worked my butt off for it, and here we are."

This marks Megill's first All-Star selection. Born on December 5, 1993, in Long Beach, California, Trevor J. Megill was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 7th round of the 2015 MLB June Amateur Draft from Loyola Marymount University. He made his major league debut on April 26, 2021. Megill's brother, Tylor Megill, also plays professional baseball.

Prior to the All-Star announcement, some observers noted Megill's strong performance and potential All-Star caliber numbers. In 2024, in the absence of Devin Williams, Megill recorded a 1.59 ERA with 18 saves in 19 opportunities. Before his selection, some felt that Megill was snubbed from the All-Star roster. Despite the Brewers having Christian Yelich and William Contreras named to the All-Star starting lineup earlier in the week, there was a feeling that Megill deserved recognition for his performance out of the bullpen.

In 2021, Megill earned his first major league win on September 3 against Pittsburgh, pitching 1.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts. He recorded his first and only hold of the season after throwing a scoreless seventh inning on September 17 at Milwaukee.
